Vote Rees for Redford

A longtime resident of Redford, Gabriel Rees began attending township board meetings over 4 years ago out of a desire to learn about what was happening in the township and how he could serve to better the community. Fast forward to today, Gabriel has been serving on the Zoning Board of Appeals, attending various committee and group meetings in Redford, and developing an understanding of how the township operates today and how it can continue to grow and prosper into the future.

Key Focus Issues

There are many opportunities and challenges facing Redford, but below are three areas where I believe I can focus my efforts to strengthen the foundation of our community.

Families First

Redford has long been a place where families are started, grown, and blessed by our numerous parks, recreation facilities, and unique greenways. A key focus will be investing in, maintaining, and highlighting the special resources that make Redford stand out as a place for families to not just get started, but to thrive as they raise and educate their children.

Fiscal Responsibility

There are many Redford residents living on fixed incomes, and in light of recent economic difficulties in the nation, it’s critical that Redford’s government fight to keep taxes stable, or even better, lowered to make it easier for each citizen to pursue their passions

Collaboration with the County

As a township, Redford does not manage the maintenance or repair of its main roads. This has long been a point of frustration for residents, for good reason. For too long the answer has been “the county is in charge of that, so there’s nothing we can do,” but my perspective is that as an elected representative it is my job to build connections in the county and advocate for more and better servicing of our township’s needs. Excuses don’t get things done, but people working together certainly can.

When is election day?

August 6th, 2024, is the Primary Election that will determine the 4 trustee candidates for the General Election in November.

What does a trustee do?

Trustees are elected to oversee the affairs of the township, from budget to community events, and employee contracts to ordinances that shape how our community looks, sounds, and feels. Trustees have a fiduciary responsibility to manage the township in service of its residents and future.

Who is Gabriel?

A big question for a FAQ section, but we’ll try: Gabriel is a 30 year old resident of 23 years. He is married to his amazing wife Nicole and father to their 2 month old son, Thomas. When not working full-time at a software company, Gabriel enjoys serving in his church’s worship ministry, leading an Ultimate Frisbee sports club, and gardening with Nicole.

Gabriel has been investing his time, energy, and passion for over 4 years at nearly every town hall meeting, special public hearing, and even subcommittees and commissions in order to learn and grow in understanding of the township's operation and core needs. This commitment to learn and grow for the betterment of Redford combined with his love for people and a thriving community make Gabriel a compelling candidate.
